FAQs
General
YuJa is the video content management solution that is replacing VidGrid at UNK, UNL and UNO. It is being offered as an additional video content management solution at UNMC and may also be used for non-academic video needs.
What is YuJa Mobile?
YuJa Mobile is the mobile app that allows users to access YuJa Media Channels, Mobile Capture and Mobile Upload.
How much storage space will I have?
YuJa provides users unlimited streaming (e.g. bandwidth), storage and captioning.
Are there any video size restrictions?
No, there are no restrictions. However, please remember that all videos that are captured or uploaded by faculty are automatically machine captioned at ~90-95%+ accuracy. The longer the video, potentially the longer the processing time.
Currently, VidGrid is used for professional/human captioning services. Is this being moved to YuJa?
Yes. Professional/human captioning services is planned to be integrated into YuJa during the Fall 2022 term. Until then, users will continue using VidGrid for their professional/human captioning needs and be able to use YuJa for other needs.
Timeline
When will I be able to (or when should I) start using YuJa?
YuJa is available for use by all users at this time. The vendor is offering optional basic/introductory as well as intermediate trainings from Aug 2 through Sept 14. Please see the training schedule for details.
When will existing data in VidGrid be migrated?
Existing data in VidGrid will be migrated to YuJa. The focus for Fall 2022 will be introducing YuJa to users and having users begin using the features of the tool. The vendor will perform the initial content migration from VidGrid to YuJa, planned to begin in Nov 2022 and complete in mid-Jan 2023. Reference linkages in Canvas will be updated as part of the vendor's process. Reference links outside of Canvas will need to be manually updated by the user. A second migration is planned for late Apr 2023 to be completed in May 2023 with all reference linkages being updated manually.
Users are able to manually copy existing data from VidGrid to YuJa outside of the planned migrations; however, doing so may result in duplication of content when the planned migrations are done. The user will need to manually update all reference linkages.

When will I be able to use YuJa for all my video needs?
YuJa is available for use today. Professional/human captioning for accommodations will be available in YuJa in early Fall 2022.
When will VidGrid be decommissioned?
The VidGrid contract expires in June 2023. Until that time, users will be able to access all existing content data that has been captured in VidGrid.
Access
How do I access YuJa?
The recommendation is for all students and teaching faculty to access YuJa via Canvas.
- Instructors are able to enable the YuJa plug-in within the course
- Students should access YuJa from the course's left-hand navigation once the instructor has enabled the link.
Direct Login to YuJa using single sign-on
- UNK: unk.yuja.com
- UNL: unl.yuja.com
- UNMC: unmc.yuja.com
- UNO: unomaha.yuja.com
Do I need separate access to YuJa for each campus?
Yes. Each campus has their own YuJa zone, which requires a separate login. The zones are designed to be accessed from within a Canvas course.
When will I lose access to VidGrid?
Users will continue to have access to VidGrid until the end of the Spring 2023 term.
Content Migration
Will the existing content in VidGrid be migrated?
Yes. As part of the YuJa implementation, the vendor's processes include copying all existing content data from VidGrid into YuJa. Their process includes updating all reference linkages in Canvas. It does not include updating reference linkages outside of Canvas so those will need to be manually updated by the owner.
When will the existing content in VidGrid be migrated?
The first content migration will start in Nov 2022 and complete in Jan 2023, when all of the reference linkages in Canvas are updated to point to YuJa instead of VidGrid. A second migration of content created between Nov 2022 and April 2023 will take place toward the end of the Spring 2023 term.
Will I need to do anything in preparation or as part of the migration?
The vendor will migrate all data content from VidGrid to YuJa. In order to minimize the time of your migration process, delete any unneeded data content from VidGrid by Oct 31, 2022. Note: Owners may want to archive a copy of the data before physically deleting the data from VidGrid.
Will the existing data in VidGrid be available during the migration?
Yes. However, the content in VidGrid should be used as reference-only once it is migrated. Any modifications done in VidGrid after the content is copied to YuJa will not be reflected in YuJa and will not be available to end users, since the reference linkages will no longer point to the VidGrid version of the video.
Will existing data in VidGrid be available after the migration?
Yes. However, users should treat the VidGrid content as reference-only once it is migrated. Any modifications done in VidGrid after the content is copied to YuJa will not be reflected in YuJa and will not be available to end users, since the reference linkages will no longer point to the VidGrid version of the video.
Professional/Human Captioning Service
How is professional/human captioning services being handled?
All videos created or uploaded by faculty to YuJa are automatically machine captioned at ~90-95% accuracy. Currently, professional/human captioning at 99%+ accuracy is attained through the continued use of your campus' current professional/human captioning service.
