Integrator and Implementer teams announced

Today we are announcing two new teams that will continue to help connect our communications and strategy going forward for NU ITS. These teams are formal committees with representatives from each of the units and communities of practice. 

This is an important step coming out of the ITS climate survey related to continued efforts to coordinate communications and build out our strategic plans and roadmaps together.

These two teams will meet regularly, have a chair, and rotate members in and out as needed. It's important to note members in these groups are representatives and can be resources for you to touch base with when your units have work related to the strategic plan or crossing over into multiple units.

Here's a look at the teams and what they'll be doing:

The first team, the Integrator Team, will work together to align initiatives and work to communicate out regularly where ITS is headed and where we are achieving success. They will, when necessary, elevate to the Senior Leadership Team, but should feel empowered to work together to move priority communications and strategy forward. This team:

  • Ensures project priorities are aligned with ITS strategic planning efforts.
  • Develops and recommends the ITS Strategic Plan and ITS Roadmaps.
  • Facilitates communication between Senior Leadership Team and Management Teams.
  • Ensures appropriate stakeholders have opportunity for input and feedback.
  • Creates and charges subcommittees or task forces as needed for deeper exploration/engagement.
  • Communicates resource needs for necessary domain-specific IT resource allocations.
  • Elevates purchasing or budgetary concerns if necessary.
  • Makes recommendations on system-wide initiatives (contracts, purchasing, hardware).

  • Academic Technologies Community of Practice: Marcia Dority Baker, Assistant Director, Academic Technologies
  • Application Support Community of Practice: Casey Nugent, Assistant Director, Academic Technologies
  • SIS Application Support: Deanna Reynolds Director, Student Information Systems
  • Senior Leadership Team (Ex-Officio): Jaci Lindberg, Director, Digital Learning
  • Senior Leadership Team (Ex-Officio): Cheri Polenske, Director, NeSIS
  • Communications  (Ex-Officio): Jason Buzzell, UNO Director of Digital Communications
  • Smaller working groups – organized as needed

The second team, the Implementer Team, will help with getting the work done and ensuring outcomes are met. This group will help with IT project service communication and coordination, working through the strategies laid out by the integrator team, other ITS processes and in support of the Senior Leadership Team. This team:

  • Assists in setting the strategic agenda for domain-specific IT decisions.
  • Ensures that outcomes and priorities for each team are communicated back to the teams.
  • Leads domain-specific ITS collaboration efforts across teams.
  • Ensures that appropriate stakeholders have opportunity for input and feedback.
  • Creates and charges subcommittees or task forces as needed for deeper exploration/engagement.
  • Advocates for necessary domain-specific IT resource allocations.
  • Is charged with IT project and service communication and coordination, working within the strategies laid out by the integrator team and assisting the Senior Leadership Team on tacitics.

  • Integration Member 1 (Ex-Officio): Member to be appointed by the Integrator Team
  • Integration Member 2 (Ex-Officio): Member to be appointed by the Integrator Team
  • Reimagine IT/SLT (Ex-Officio): Heath Tuttle, Assistant Vice Chancellor for IT
  • Smaller working groups – organized as needed

This is one part of several initiatives we are working on to continue to communicate and build a cohesive strategy among the ITS teams and the campuses' strategic priorities.
