Nominations are now being accepted for the University of Nebraska Technology Excellence Award, open to all Information Technology Services staff. This award is an opportunity to recognize an ITS staff member for their hard work and achievements.
Nominations must be submitted by July 30 to Jane Petersen, Interim ITS Assistant Vice President and UNK CIO, at jpetersen@nebraska.edu.
First established in 2010 at UNK, the Technology Excellence Award recognizes the exemplary performance of ITS staff members who consistently provide a level of service significantly above and beyond specific responsibilities. Recognition for the award will be based on an individual’s commitment in terms of job performance; a commitment to service for students, faculty and/or staff; and contributions to the professions.
To be eligible, employees must report directly to Information Technology Services and must have completed at least one year of service prior to the award application deadline.
Nominations for the Technology Excellence Award may be made by faculty, staff or co-workers. A letter addressing the nominee’s exemplary contributions, accomplishments and job performance, and/or extraordinary service to faculty, staff and students is to be submitted to a campus CIO by June 30. All letters will be treated as confidential.
Nominations will be reviewed by a 6-member committee with two representatives from the UNK, UNL and UNO Faculty Senate IT committees. The committee may request additional information about the nominees. The top three nominees will be submitted to the campus CIO’s by August 1.
The award will be announced in September. Recipients of the Technology Excellence Award will receive a framed certificate of recognition and a monetary award. Learn more about last year’s winner, JR Noble.
